When adding or subtracting fractions, a common denominator is needed to perform this operation. A denominator is an equal part in the whole. It is necessary to find a least common denominator to ensure that all parts are equal before doing the operation. On the other hand, when multiplying fractions, you multiply the numerators and then the denominators and simply the fraction if possible. When dividing, one will flip the second fraction and then multiply to get the correct answer. The reason why one does not need to find a common denominator when mutilplying or dividing a fraction is because when you multiply the numerators together and denominators together you have not changed the value of the fraction; therefore, no common denominator is needed before performing the function.

Fractions have impacted my life more than I realized. Fractions are used more in daily life. For instance, it is used in sale in shopping when so much off is used and gasoline. It has not been a big issue for me do the math, but to explain it and to apply it sometimes seem to be a challenge.
